A “Weapon” Of Mass Elation For My Eardrums

It’s Hump Day, y’all!

I think we can all use a little something to add excitement to the rest of our week, and here it is!

I heard this song, “Weapon (EDX Acapulco At Night Remix)” by Cazzette while looking for new songs in my free time on Monday night. Usually, I don’t have much success finding good music when I actually do the research; it usually comes to me when I least expect it. Go figure lol. But, I was on Beatport.com–which is a site I have used for years to find the latest and greatest Dance music–and I came across this song. The SECOND I heard it, I was like, “Whoa!” I was getting ready to go to sleep. After hearing this song, I felt the complete opposite.

EDX seems to know the beats that move my heart strings. He has really come out with great stuff over the past two years and this is one example of his creativity! The song starts and doesn’t waste any time with a slow, sort of cliche buildup that most Progressive House songs have nowadays. The beat is driving, consistent, and captivating from the start. It’s a beat that is so innovative, blending a Progressive House feel with a traditional House/Deep House swagger.

Not only is the beat fantastic, the lyrics are very well sung, clever, and meaningful! So if the beat didn’t do it for you, perhaps the lyrics will. Before I analyzed the lyrics, I just accepted the fact that the song was called “Weapon” and thought nothing of it. But the weapon that is being referred to is the singer’s love! She is singing about someone who is taking advantage of the love and desire that she has for them. I can totally relate to that feeling. The lyrics are so believable; it’s just great.

This song is special. It isn’t often that I come across a song that makes me feel this way. The beat is calm, yet climactic; appealing to fist pumpers and casual listeners alike. This is a Dance song with meaning, purpose, and direction. I love music and even I can say that House music at times steers in a banal direction, with beats that sound worn out and lyrics that are catchy for popularity purposes but have no substance.  “Weapon” is  a beautiful song. If you like this style of music, you cannot continue on unless you add this to your playlist. It is THAT good!

Loves,

Dean
